Friends Guide to Gifting

The month of December has flown by so fast and Christmas is literally next week. Now you’re shopping last minute and getting overwhelmed by not knowing what to buy, the awful traffic, and figuring out how you can afford these gifts. But don’t fret, The Guide to Gifting for Friends is here!

Gifting Tips

Tip # 1– Don’t overthink it

When purchasing for friends I tend to stick with each friends personality. I like to purchase unique gifts that remind me of them while out shopping. It’s also best to have a general idea of what you would like to purchase before heading out. In doing so, you won’t turn a 1.5 hour trip into a 4 hour trip of wondering what to purchase.

Tip # 2– Shop for the best deal before going out to purchase

Search newspaper circulars, online ads, and various online websites to see where you can find the best deal. I’m all for BOGO because I can either decide to gift it or get a little something for myself without feeling too guilty. Once you determine what stores have the best deals, go ahead and make that purchase.

Tip # 3– Shop online

Don’t wanna deal with the hustle and bustle of the holiday crowd? This is your solution. Depending on the store, there may also be more availability of an item online than when purchasing in store. Be sure to check estimation time of arrival for packages if you plan to shop online. Some stores also allow for gift wrapping, expedited shipping, and ship to store. If you want to send it to your friend’s home, simply place your friend’s address in the shipping detail and you’re good to go.

Tip # 4– Hold a Secret Santa gifting party

You can’t go wrong if you decide to have a Secret Santa gifting party. All there is to do is to determine a price range and to purchase something fit for the general crowd of the party. One gift and everybody wins and with that you don’t have to stay in the holiday crowds for long.

Tip # 5– Purchase Greeting Cards and Gift Cards

Whether its last minute or planned, greeting cards and gift cards are always a go-to. I tend to stick with greeting cards that have minimal messages inside because I like to add my own personal note to each individual friend. That gives it a special touch. Meanwhile, who would ever refuse a gift card? Grab a gift card of a store or restaurant you heard a friend mention and you’re all set.

I hope you are able to use these tips and be sure to get to shopping quickly, Christmas is almost here!
